NICOLE MAKES 4

Greetings! Exciting news! We have her and everything is great! We got off the plane in Nanchang yesterday and were greeted by a woman named Mary, who will be our translator for the week. We drove to the hotel in a beat up Volkswagen with no air conditioning and our luggage hanging somewhat precariously out the back. She told us that the baby would be arriving at our hotel in an hour! We initially had been told that it wouldn't be until Monday.

Nicole was "delivered" very unceremoniously, the orphanage director handed her to me, gave us bunch of documents to fill out and wanted to confirm whether our "donation" for Nicole was in US or Chinese Yuen!

Nicole is absolutely lovely! She had a good cry after they left and then fairly quickly started playing with us. There is no question that Alex is her favorite. Alex has been wonderful, completely playing the little mother and doting on her. Nicole appears to be completely on target physically and developmentally. She is walking, picking things up etc. She is fascinated with the Ipad (we don't have too many things for her to play with as we thought we would have time to run out and grab some). She smiles very readily and appears to be very gentle in nature. She went to sleep fairly easily at around 8:30 or so and is still sleeping - it is 6 am here. Alex on the other hand woke up at 4 am wanting to FaceTime her cousin Sydney to show Nicole. As for the cleft lip and palate, it is there... after all of the anxiety and worry we have gone through over the last few months, it doesn't seem like that big a deal anymore.
